At the time of the initial consultation, a fee agreement is signed and a retainer or deposit is collected. This deposit is used to pay fees and costs. Fees and costs incurred in excess of that amount are billed to the client on a monthly basis, unless an additional retainer is required.

Time spent on a client's matter, including the initial consultation, is charged on an hourly basis. Steve Raynor’s hourly rate is $275.00 and Kyle Farmer’s hourly rate is $175.00. Itemized statements are provided monthly.

Each case is unique. In some cases, the parties quickly settle all issues and the dispute is resolved for less than $1,000. In other cases, the attorneys are involved in settlement negotiations and agreement drafting, and the fees are higher corresponding to the attorney time involved.

If necessary, the preparation for and the handling of disputes in court adds considerably to the legal costs. Not knowing the parties, it is difficult for an attorney at the initial consultation to predict exactly how the case is going to develop.

Documentation to be brought to the initial consultation should include any court orders in the case and all agreements signed or proposed. Income tax returns, financial statements, etc., as needed, can be provided following the initial consultation.
